Who We Are

Capital Preparatory Schools is a Charter Management Organization operating tuition-free, public charter schools across New York and Connecticut, focusing on college prep with a social justice lens.

Capital Prep currently operates three schools (four campuses) across New York and Connecticut, with two more approved schools planned to open.

  • Capital Prep Harbor Lower School (K-6) Bridgeport, CT
  • Capital Prep Harbor Upper School (7-12) Bridgeport, CT
  • Capital Prep Harlem (6-12) Harlem, NY
  • Capital Prep Bronx (6-12) Bronx, NY
  • Capital Prep New Rochelle (Set to open in the 2026-27 school year with grades K, 6, 7)
  • Capital Prep Middletown (Approved in 2023, awaiting funding from the State of Connecticut)

Capital Prep provides a diverse community of student learners with the academic and character college and career readiness skills needed to become responsible and engaged citizens for social justice. We accomplish this by providing a nurturing and loving environment that fosters strong student-teacher relationships, requires rigor throughout a classic college-preparatory curriculum, demands high expectations, and is relevant; connecting student learning to real-world experiences and opportunities through applied teaching methods such as project-based learning.

With this approach, we are proud to develop caring, respectful, responsible, knowledgeable, and self-confident students prepared to excel in higher education and actively engage in and contribute to their communities.
